Martin and Marie wanted a completely invisible heating system, with the heating hidden beneath the wide pine paneling. The solution was a geothermal system with underfloor heating. Two 210-metre boreholes were drilled and connected to a Thermia Atlas ground source heat pump, a powerful and quiet heat pump that heats the old building extremely well.

The installer recommended the Thermia Calibra E 8 ground source heat pump with modulated heating capacity between 2 and 8 kW. The Calibra E is exceptionally high performing and requires hardly any maintenance. This was a better all-round solution than an air source heat pump, as, with the Calibra E, there is virtually no noise, lower electricity consumption and it will last much longer, as the ground source heat collector is practically eternal.

Here, local resident PO Olofsson owns three larger properties and a holiday home. Common to all properties is that, year after year, they are heated using heat pumps from Thermia.

As the climate is so different in the summer and the winter, the hotel needed a very versatile energy system. It needed to be able to heat in winter and cool in summer. The customer wanted to use renewable energy and was committed to investing in the very latest technology.

We chose the Thermia Mega M heat pump (11-44 kW) to heat and cool the building and provide hot water. We used Muovitech's TurboCollector as the ground collector.

The Willis building was realized by Belcotec as an innovation centre for its own use. “We named it in honor of the inventor of air-conditioning, Willis Carrier”, explained Jan Vangeel, CEO at Belcotec, and added: “We wanted to make a statement with our own building. The energy level is 28, which is very low for office buildings.

The hotel and spa are heated by Thermia ground-source heat pumps. 18 Robust heat pumps with a total capacity of 715 kW provide heating, cooling and hot water to 24,000 m2 of hotel rooms, the spa, offices, shops and apartments.
